Real-time images, relating to the theory

inspired by the author of Space, Time and Architecture (1941), which often thought to be considered the ghostwriter of the modern movement. In his writings, he brought its different tendencies together under the banner of the new space-time concept, which is one of the key ideas to the design of this building and the purpose to its moving elements.
The building is positioned to connect the square house and the new material science building.

Level one at the student learning center, also place of the first moving element.
level 2 and 3 of the student learning center, holds student break out space and meeting space accompanied with tube-shaped sleeping/resting booth.

The opened space on the second floor is a break-out space for students to enjoy the outside dining experience.
Also part of the Dining area, where the students are provided simple utilities such as sinks and microwaves so they can heat up their lunch.
Computer labs enable students to learn more effectively in this new era of technology.
lecture theater is still an important medium to traditional teaching, though the students will mainly be watching lecture recordings online,

Video showing moving elements and building overview

This video includes the moving elements and the overview of the entire building.

MOVING ELEMENT 1

The moving element is a movable division board, it can be used to divide spaces to provide students with private working studios when the boards are removed, the space can become a gallery to display students' work.

MOVING ELEMENT 2

the moving element on the exterior of the building provides shades to the rooms when needed, it is also installed with solar panels to advocate for clean energy resources.

3D MODEL

Due to the fact that the SketchUp model is too large to upload to 3D warehouse, both Lumion scene and SketchUp file are uploaded to Dropbox.

EXP 2. WEEK 2 parallel projections and 3 parallel projections with curved facades

From the 6 shapes that were developed in week 1, different shapes are paired up to form 3 new geometric to explore the interconnection between pairs. 3 parallel projections were drawn and another 3 parallel projections were drawn from the opposite angle with a 3D curving surface around certain sections of the geometric shape.

EXP2. WEEK 1 CLASS SKETCHES and CONCEPTS

CONCEPTS

5 concepts were chosen from the list of concepts developed in class, including the two concepts that were developed by me.
1.  Amanda Levete focuses on her facades to create a conversation/ cultural connection between the building location and purpose
2.  Amanda Levete uses a  combination of continuous, smooth surfaces that represent a sense of elegance and peacefulness.
3.  Amanda Levete experiments with materials and geometry to create seemingly weightless, but strong architectural forms that demonstrate her understanding of space and motion. (Frances)
4. Most of Eric Miralles' architecture reflects texture and exposed natural materials. His work is referred to as 'time architecture'. His layering of materials is like the layering of memories: The space-time-metaphysical architecture. (Frances)
5. Miralles playfulness with geometry encapsulated a different side of human natures unwillingness to comply with the norm.

SKETCHES

Sketches were first developed in class on a notebook using pencil, then it was tranced twice by using tracing paper to define the lined and add different textures and hatched lines to highlight one set of surfaces that exist in parallel planes. Aaxometrics
